The Atlanta Dream have had a strong start to the season, but the team's future success hinges on the health of WNBA star Brittney Griner. Atlanta is already dealing with multiple injuries, and now fans will need to keep an eye on Griner in the coming days.

On Sunday, the Dream had ruled out rookie standout Te-Hina Paopao with a facial injury sustained in the team's win over the Dallas Wings on Saturday. Atlanta has been without Jordin Canada for the start of the season as the guard recovers from a right knee injury.

Now, it appears Griner is also dealing with a knee injury. Atlanta previously announced that Paopao and Canada would miss the team's game against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

Minutes before tipoff, the Dream announced that Griner was also a late scratch with a left knee injury as the star was added to the report. Health concerns aside, Griner is already off to a hot start during her first season with Atlanta.

Griner is averaging 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and one assist per game in the Dream's first four games. Atlanta started forward Nia Coffey in place of Griner alongside star Brionna Jones.

The Dream are likely being cautious with Griner and giving the star some rest instead of playing her during the second game of a back-to-back. It is still worth keeping an eye on Griner's status in the coming days.

The Dream's next game is on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Sparks. Atlanta fans are hoping Griner is back in the lineup soon as the Dream look to keep pace in the Eastern Conference standings.

Jones is already loving the reality of playing next to Griner instead of trying to defend the 9-time All-Star.

"That's a scary sight for other teams, honestly," Jones said in an interview posted by the WNBA on May 14. "Just being able to play alongside BG (Griner) and then you're gonna have to pick your poison.

"I know she's seen a lot of double teams. I've seen double teams. So, it's gonna be hard to do that with what's on the floor at the same time. But also, I think we're willing to space the floor and take those open shots as well."
