Securing a spot in a WNBA team isn't easy, and Shyanne Sellers has already experienced the trouble. Despite not playing a game at the professional level, Sellers has already been waived twice by two teams. The most recent team that let her go was the Atlanta Dream.

On Monday, the Dream announced their roster move. They've started to trim the number of players ahead of the start of the 2025 season. Unfortunately for Sellers, she did not make the team.

Her stint in Atlanta didn't last. She was picked up by the franchise on May 5 and was released after a week.

Sellers was the 17th pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Golden State Valkyries. However, she did not stay with the franchise that drafted her after she was waived on May 3.

The 6-foot-2 guard spent four years in Maryland and was an exceptional contributor. Sellers averaged 12.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and four assists. The guard was also a starter for the team during her junior and senior years.

In college, Sellers earned a few awards for being a standout player. She was a three-time All-Big Ten player, a one-time Big Ten All-Defense, part of the Big Ten All-Freshman and the 2022 Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year.

Sellers comes from a basketball family. Her father, Brad, played six seasons in the NBA. At seven feet tall, the big man was selected ninth overall by the Chicago Bulls and spent the first three years of his career in the Windy City.

Following that, he bounced around the league and played for the Seattle Supersonics, Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons. After Sellers' stint in the league, he continued playing professionally overseas.

The WNBA rookie has two older sisters who played college basketball. Syarra attended Thomas More and Shayla played for Purdue Fort Wayne.
