Another chapter in the Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese rivalry has sports media buzzing—and this time, Emmanuel Acho is stepping into the conversation with a pointed take.

The two WNBA rookies faced off this weekend in a long-awaited rematch of their 2023 NCAA title game showdown. But late in the third quarter, things got testy. Clark slapped at Reese’s arm while going for the ball, knocking her to the floor. The foul was upgraded to flagrant, but it was Reese’s visible frustration afterward that drew just as much attention as the foul itself.

Video clips quickly made the rounds online, showing Reese briefly confronting Clark before being separated by teammate Aliyah Boston. And that moment set the stage for a strong postgame reaction—and stronger media takes in the days that followed.

Acho Says Reese Overreacted—And Admits It Herself

On FS1’s “The Facility,” Emmanuel Acho addressed the scene directly and said Reese may have gone too far in the heat of the moment.

“I got no issue with how Angel Reese reacted,” Acho said, “but it’s subjectively clear she did overreact. I got an issue with everyone saying Angel Reese is overreacting… we know she overreacted because she knows she overreacted.”

Acho was referring to Reese’s own postgame interview, in which she dismissed the incident, saying, “Basketball play. It was a good foul. Move on.”

According to Acho, that admission tells the whole story. “She said it herself. So I’m not mad at her emotions—but let’s not pretend it didn’t happen.”

The encounter is already being framed as another spark in one of the league’s most talked-about emerging rivalries. But as Acho made clear, separating emotion from acknowledgment is what brings clarity—and this time, Reese did both.
