LSU legend and the WNBA’s rebound leader, Angel Reese, had another solid performance for the Chicago Sky. Angel Reese recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She also had 4 assists and 2 steals to help her team stay competitive against the Los Angeles Sparks. This was Angel’s 28th career double-double.

Reese is averaging 13.7 rebounds per game. This is an improvement over last year where she averaged 13.1 in her rookie season. When she was asked if there was a sense of urgency for the team to play better, Angel responded,“I think it was a step forward. Things we can get better at. I think we just have to stay together, it’s tough losing three in a row but I think if we stay together and continue to work on the things that we need to work on, we’ll be alright.”
Angel was also kind of short with reporters about how helpful it has been to have WNBA legend Lisa Leslie as a mentor and her involvement in a Magic Johnson literacy program in Baltimore. In answering the questions, Reese tried to shift the focus back to the game. She said, “I think just being able to have somebody in my back pocket is always good…Man, I’m trying to talk basketball. I ain’t trying to talk about nothing but basketball!”
Angel was also asked about her efforts in recording another double-double. She said, “I’m just trying to focus on what I need to do for the team. My teammates need me to rebound and do a lot of things on the defensive end so, just letting the game come to me. I know what my teammates need me to do every night so I try as best as I can to do that…We’re not happy obviously and we’re not satisfied at all. We’re hungry for a win.”
Finally, Angel addressed the fan support she’s received despite the team’s struggles. She said, “I think the 6 man is always important. Being able to feel the love everywhere we go is always great. I think it helps us keep our intensity up and we feed off that energy.”
The Chicago Sky will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they travel to Phoenix to take on the Mercury.
