Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever, after an improbable playoff run, saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night, falling to Becky Hammon and the Las Vegas Aces 107-98 in Game 5 of the 2025 WNBA semifinals. Mitchell finished the game with 15 points on 4-of-8 shooting, two rebounds and two assists, but was only able to see 23 minutes of action.

With just over five minutes left in the third quarter, Mitchell went down with an apparent non-contact injury. At first, it appeared to be cramps, but concern grew when the Fever medical staff surrounded the All-Star with towels as she lay on the floor in pain. After several minutes, Mitchell was helped to the locker room and ruled out for the rest of the night.

After the loss, White joined Aliyah Boston and Odyssey Sims for a postgame press conference. When asked about Mitchell's injury, White shared that she was transported to the hospital and received fluids.

"She's got a lot of lower-body cramping," White said. "She's currently at the hospital right now getting fluids. And unfortunately, we have a lot of experience rallying around teammates. You know this group is all heart. It’s just really hard to put into words. They’re just special."

At the same time Mitchell went down with her injury, Boston was called for her fifth foul, forcing her to the bench for the final five minutes of the third quarter. She returned to start the fourth but was disqualified with 27 seconds left in regulation after committing her sixth foul, leaving her out for the rest of the game and overtime.

Mitchell signed a one-year max contract with the Fever before her eighth WNBA season, and with Indiana's season coming to a close, the former Ohio State star becomes an unrestricted free agent, with a big decision to make in the offseason.
