After starting the 2025 WNBA season 2-4, Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever, without Caitlin Clark, have gotten back to .500.
Amid a two-game winning streak, the Fever looked to make it three on Tuesday night, facing Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream. Indiana and Atlanta have already met twice this season, splitting the two battles.
Griner, a 10-time WNBA All-Star, did not have her best game in the most recent loss to the Fever, tallying just five points on 2-of-6 shooting, seven rebounds and one block.
However, Griner was unable to finish that game after picking up her sixth foul with 3:38 remaining in the fourth quarter, fouling out. And White certainly did not forget this strategy.
On Tuesday, White spoke to the media during a press conference ahead of Indiana’s third matchup with Atlanta. When asked about the key to stopping Griner, White said it’s about keeping the center out of her spots.
"I think the challenge with BG is just trying to keep her off her spots," White said. "She does a great job of getting to her spots. If I remember correctly, she was in a little bit of foul trouble in that ball game, so we've got to continue to try to look to go at her on the offensive end. But more than anything, just try to be as disruptive as possible on the perimeter so they can't get the ball to her as easily and try to keep her from her spots."
Prior to Tuesday's game, Griner had helped the Dream secure a 5-3 record. The former Phoenix Mercury center is averaging 13.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in her first season in Atlanta.
