The Indiana Fever are playing against the New York Liberty on Saturday afternoon at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Fever guard and the Fever's star player, Caitlin Clark, is expected to make her return after being out for the past three weeks due to a strain on her left quad.
Prior to the game, the press had the opportunity to speak with Clark and she expressed that she doesn't anticipate being on any minute restrictions during Saturday's game.
“I’m not a huge fan of minute restrictions, I think they’re silly. I told them, ‘I don’t want to come back unless I’m 100% full go,’” Clark said. "Why would I be out there to play 20 minutes? I'm out there to win and give everything I have for this team."
Clark also mentioned that her rotations might be a little quicker this game, just because she hasn't played in a game for almost three weeks now.
Afterwards, Fever head coach Stephanie White also had a press conference before the game. Chloe Peterson of the IndyStar told White that Clark thought "minute restrictions were 'silly,'" to which White laughed and responded, "Of course she did."
White also went into the process of how Clark and the training staff discussed the Iowa alum's minutes and how she will manage shorter stints throughout the game.
"She's done the work that she's needed to do to make sure that she's ready to go," White explained. "I think the challenge for us as coaches and for Caitlin is just how long do we go at one period of time? We don't want emotional or physical fatigue early in the ball game."
