Fever Coach Stephanie White Sends Parting Message to DeWanna Bonner

After going 1-2 on a three-game road trip, Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever will be a bit shorthanded as the Los Angeles Sparks come to town on Thursday night.

Clark has been ruled out against the Sparks after suffering a groin injury late in Tuesday's win over the Seattle Storm. And, just one day before, veteran forward DeWanna Bonner was waived.

Bonner, who previously played under White with the Connecticut Sun, had been absent for Indiana's last five games and did not make the trip out west.

Bonner also started the first three games, struggling to click with her new team before getting benched in favor of Lexie Hull.

In light of the recent events, the Fever have since re-signed guard Aari McDonald.

During the Fever’s media availability, reporters spoke with both White and McDonald. At the start of the interview, White was asked to share her “parting message” to Bonner, which she did.

"Yeah, I mean, first and foremost, you know obviously we’re disappointed that things didn’t work out," White said. "I love DB. I mean, DB is somebody that I have so much respect for. She’s a Hall of Famer, and while I’m disappointed, I always, first and foremost, want her to be happy."

White proceeded to mention that her focus will now be turning to her current team.

"So, I’m thankful for the time that we’ve had and certainly want her to be happy and wish her the best," White added. "We're turning, right now, our focus to our team and what we can do to continue to get better.”

With Bonner leaving, reports indicate that her preferred destinations are the Atlanta Dream and the Phoenix Mercury, where her fiancé Alyssa Thomas plays.

Following the Sparks game, the Fever will face Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
