Fever Coach Stephanie White's Statement After Game 2 Win Couldn't Be More True

To say that this has been a challenging season for the Indiana Fever would be an understatement. Nevertheless, this team has proven time and time again that giving up just isn’t part of their vocabulary.

Indiana lost no less than five players this year to season-ending injuries, including cornerstone superstar Caitlin Clark, who was shut down for the rest of the campaign in August after being limited to just 13 games in her sophomore year.

However, the Fever have continued to fight through adversity, and for the most part, they’ve come out on top. A testament to this fact is how Indiana is now just one win away from booking their spot in the second round of the WNBA playoffs, despite the odds being heavily stacked against them.

Fever head coach Stephanie White sent a powerful message to her team following Tuesday’s Game 2 victory against the Atlanta Dream. With Indiana on the brink of elimination, this team exhibited its unquestionable resilience by blowing out Atlanta, 77-60, to force a winner-take-all Game 3 on Thursday.

Coach White had nothing but high praise for her players.

"That was a masterclass on the defensive end of the floor," White said during her postgame locker room speech. "It really was.

"I'm so proud of you. Stepped up to the challenge. Back against the wall. And our back is against the wall every [expletive] game.

"But y'all, look. ... We ain't finished though, right? We ain't finished."

White’s words could not be more true. It was, indeed, one of Indiana’s best defensive showings of the season, holding Atlanta down to just 60 points on 37.9% shooting. The veteran coach is also absolutely right in saying that her team has been forced into a tight spot not only in this game, but for the majority of the season.

Most importantly, however, White hit the nail on the head when she declared that the Fever are not done yet.

They’ve already achieved so much this season, including winning the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup back in July. The mere fact that the Fever even made it to the playoffs despite being decimated by injuries is an admirable feat in itself.

However, White and Co. are not settling for a participation medal. The Fever are confident that they have what it takes to upset the odds against the Dream in Game 3 on Thursday as they continue to soldier on toward their championship aspirations this season.
