The Indiana Fever will have a new regime for the 2027 season, but that doesn’t mean Stephanie White will be shown the door this offseason.

On Friday morning, Fever president of basketball and business operations Kelly Krauskopf announced that she was stepping down from her role with the organization. She was the franchise’s general manager from 2000-2017 before returning in 2025 to take on an even bigger role.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to help build and steward the Indiana Fever with the support and trust of Herb Simon,” Krauskopf said in a press release. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, relationships, and shared accomplishments that have shaped my time with this organization. The Fever is poised for an exciting future, and I am proud to have helped lay the foundation for its continued growth and success. I will always cherish my time with Pacers Sports and Entertainment and the people who made it so meaningful.”

Several hours later, Annie Costabile of The Athletic reported that Indiana fired general manager Amber Cox. That immediately sparked speculation about White’s future with the Fever.

According to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou, the Fever are not expected to fire White this offseason.

Big year coming up for Stephanie White and the Fever.

Since taking over the Fever in 2025, White has owned a 52-36 record with two playoff appearances. Even though White has plenty of coaching experience, she admit this season was tougher than usual due to the criticism she received online.

“There’s moments where it does get hard, and it does get heavy. Because it is ugly. I often say, ‘It’s not hard to not be a jerk.’ But maybe it is. Maybe it’s harder to be kind, especially in the world that we live in right now, where it seems that it’s okay to call people names. It’s okay to bully and berate and degrade. It’s the world that we’re living in right now,” White said. “For me, personally, I have my ups and downs. Just like I’m sure that many of these young people have their ups and downs. For me to talk about it and show them that they’re not alone, I think, is important. For me to just still try to be a voice of reason when there’s a lot of unreason out there — and that it doesn’t have to be this way. It doesn’t have to be this way. It shouldn’t be this way. But it is the reality that we’re living in right now, and mental health has to be a priority.”

Only time will tell if White and the revamped front office for the Fever maximize Caitlin Clark’s championship window.
