Fever popular with public, but Aces favored to 3-peat
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The two teams garnering the most interest from the public will be on display as part of the WNBA's four-game opening night slate on Tuesday.

The Las Vegas Aces will begin their quest for a three-peat at home against the Phoenix Mercury. The Aces open the regular season as the +100 title favorites at BetMGM, where they lead the way with 41.3 percent of the title money backing them.

However, it's the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark who have drawn the most overall interest. The Fever have been backed by 45.8 percent of the total title bets at +2000, compared to 17.8 for the Aces. The third most bets have been placed on the Chicago Sky with 11.8 percent at +3000 odds.

The heavy action on Indiana also has made the Fever the book's biggest liability entering the season, followed by the Sky and the Aces.

The New York Liberty, who tip off the season in the first game at Washington, have the second-shortest title odds at +225 after losing to Las Vegas in last year's finals. The Seattle Storm are a distant third at +1000.

The second game Wednesday will feature Clark's regular-season debut at Connecticut, followed by Phoenix at Las Vegas and Minnesota at Seattle.

Aces star A'Ja Wilson, who won MVP honors two years ago, opens the season as the +100 favorite ahead of New York's Breanna Stewart (+600). Stewart won the award last year ahead of Sun forward Alyssa Thomas and Wilson, leading Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon to call the 2023 MVP voting "a joke."

Thomas opens the season at +1100 -- longer odds than the rookie Clark at +1000. Clark opened at +1200, but has since drawn 68.1 percent of the total bets and 74.5 percent of the money wagered on this season's MVP. The next closes has been Wilson at 6.0 and 12.6 percent, respectively.

Clark easily is the book's biggest liability, followed by Minnesota's Napheesa Collier and Seattle's Skylar Diggins-Smith.
