Caitlin Clark played only 13 games last season due to ankle, hip and groin injuries. However, she has been on fire this year, appearing in 40 regular-season games and breaking several WNBA records . The Indiana Fever sent a congratulatory message to her after a career news on Sunday.

Clark is a big reason why the team secured a playoff berth. Indiana is the No. 6 seed and battling the No. 3-seeded Las Vegas Aces in the first round. The three-time All-Star averaged a career-high 22.3 points, with 4.0 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.1 steals. Along with Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, they have been the main catalysts of the franchise in its championship quest.

However, Game 1 of the first round series didn’t go according to plan for Clark and Indiana. They lost 102-85 at Michelob Ultra Arena as A’ja Wilson dominated with a game-high 38 points on 15-of-19 shooting. She added 16 rebounds, two steals and four blocks.

Clark recorded 15 points and 10 assists, with Boston leading the way with 18 points and eight rebounds and four assists. Mitchell struggled on the night, shooting 4-of-16 from the field, including 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. The four-time All-Star finished with 12 points and three assists.

Game 2 will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday. The Fever have their backs against the wall and will need to sweep the remaining games to advance to the second round. They don’t own homecourt advantage, making the task even harder to achieve. The good news is they have a formidable roster capable of pulling off an upset.
