Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull had some major news to share this week—and her team made sure to celebrate right along with her.
On Sunday, Hull posted on Instagram to announce her engagement to longtime boyfriend, Will Matthiessen.
“Engaged to my best friend. Cheers to forever!” Hull captioned along with joyful photos from the proposal.
Congrats to you both!!!” the Fever’s official account wrote, with a heart-eyes emoji, as they joined the many voices celebrating Hull’s big moment.
Other WNBA names also chimed in with love and support, including Catilin Clark, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink and Kate Martin.
The engagement announcement is the latest highlight in what has already been a remarkable year for Hull. After helping lead Rose Basketball Club to a championship in the first-ever Unrivaled season—and earning a $50,000 bonus—she’s now heading into her fourth WNBA season with high expectations.
Off the court, Hull’s relationship with Matthiessen has also drawn admiration. Per the IndyStar, the two met while attending Stanford University, where Hull starred in women’s basketball and Matthiessen played baseball.
Now, both are starting a new chapter—together.
Meanwhile, the Fever are currently in training camp and will kick off their season on May 17 at home against the Chicago Sky.
But for Lexie Hull, this weekend was all about love, support and celebrating a life-changing moment. And judging by the reaction from her team and fans, she’s got a whole league behind her as she steps into this new chapter.
