Aliyah Boston and the shorthanded Indiana Fever saw their 2025 WNBA season come to an end after falling in overtime to A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces 107-98 on the road in Game 5 of the semifinals. The Fever now see their unlikely postseason run end after missing multiple players throughout the playoffs due to season-ending injuries, including Sophie Cunningham and All-WNBA guard Caitlin Clark.
However, Indiana suffered another major blow midway through the third quarter when All-Star Kelsey Mitchell went down with a non-contact injury. At first, it was believed to be cramps, but concern grew as several Fever staff members surrounded her and held up towels while she remained on the floor for several minutes. Mitchell was later helped to the locker room and ruled out for the rest of the game.
While the Fever lost their top performer of the playoffs, coach Stephanie White had more to worry about. With Mitchell sidelined, White also had to sit Boston after she picked up her fifth foul on the same sequence. The former South Carolina forward sat the final five minutes of the third quarter before returning at the start of the fourth.
Boston helped the Fever rally to tie the game, but with 27 seconds remaining, she was called for her sixth foul while chasing a loose ball. White challenged the call, but it was upheld, and Boston fouled out, forcing her to miss the rest of regulation and overtime.
