The Indiana Fever have ruled out star point guard Caitlin Clark for Tuesday night's WNBA Commissioner's Cup final against the Lynx.
Clark is dealing with a left groin injury and will miss a third consecutive contest. She previously missed seven games with a quad strain earlier this season. In the nine games she's played, the reigning rookie of the year and first-team All-WNBA selection has averaged 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals on 39 percent shooting.
Clark's injury means fans won't get to see a matchup between the two players recently selected as All-Star Game captains. While Clark led all players in fan voting, Lynx star Napheesa Collier was a close second. Collier, the favorite to win the WNBA MVP award this year, has averaged 24.4 points and 8.5 rebounds in 13 games for the 14-2 Lynx, who own the best record in the league.
The Lynx and Fever (8-8) made it to Tuesday night's matchup by recording the best records during Commissioner's Cup qualifying games. The winner of the championship game will receive $500,000. The Lynx, who beat the Liberty in last year's final, are looking to become the first team to win multiple Commissioner's Cup trophies since the event began in 2021.
Without Clark, the Fever will lean heavily on the scoring duo of guard Kelsey Mitchell (18.9 points per game) and post player Aliyah Boston (15.9).
Tuesday's game is at 7 p.m. central time on Amazon Prime Video.
