Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers are two of the best players for Team USA throughout the FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is the first time representing the national squad at the senior level for both players, but neither has looked like a newcomer.
In four games played, Clark has averaged 12.8 points on 59.3% shooting to lead the team. She’s also registered a tournament-best 6.3 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 2.3 triples in 20.9 minutes per contest.
Bueckers, on the other hand, has put up 11.0 points 51.4% from the floor, 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.3 triples in 20.6 minutes per game.
Clark, Bueckers and the rest of Team USA were back in action on Tuesday. The Americans took on Spain in their final game of the tournament. They entered the matchup with a 4-0 record and were on a mission to finish the qualifiers with an unblemished record.
Clark and Bueckers both came off the bench for interim head coach Nate Tibbetts. This did not prevent them from making a significant impact on the contest.
Clark changed the tempo of the game as soon as she checked in during the first quarter. She dished out a perfect pass to Angel Reese to beat the buzzer in the opening period. The Indiana Fever star also showcased her two-way play with an impressive stop on the defensive end.
In the second quarter, Clark once again exhibited her elite playmaking. This time around, she found Bueckers wide open with a full-court dime. The assist caught FIBA's attention.
“WE KNOW YOU ARE WAITING FOR THE CC TO PB CONTENT ” FIBA posted on Instagram, sharing a clip of Clark’s pass to Bueckers.
As the caption indicates, there has been a clamor for more Clark and Bueckers content. FIBA responded to fans' demand by posting a video featuring the two superstars in one of the game's best moments.
Team USA secured the win on Tuesday, 84-70. Clark finished with seven points, seven assists, two rebounds, a steal, one block and a three-pointer. Bueckers chipped in with nine points, two rebounds, two assists and a triple.
