Flau’Jae Johnson has been an incredible addition for the Seattle Storm this season. The 5-foot-10 guard is currently averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Unfortunately, the Storm are having a rough year as they’re currently second-to-last in the WNBA standings. Despite that, Johnson and Seattle have recently won back-to-back games.

The eighth overall pick of the 2026 WNBA Draft led her squad to its first win in 12 games on Tuesday. Johnson scored a career-high 28 points to go along with nine rebounds, two assists and three steals as the Storm defeated the New York Liberty, 99-88.

The rookie then scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in their 105-90 win against the Atlanta Dream on Saturday. Johnson secured the Storm’s second straight win at the expense of her former LSU teammate, Angel Reese.

After the game, she shared a post on X showing her stats in their win against Atlanta.

“God is so amazing,” Johnson said in the caption.

Johnson played for LSU from 2022 until 2026. During that time, she played two seasons alongside Reese. The duo helped the Tigers win their first women’s NCAA Championship in 2023 against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Fast forward to their first match-up as professionals on Saturday night. Johnson got the best of her fellow NCAA champion.

Johnson ran up to Reese late in the fourth quarter when Atlanta was emptying their bench, appearing to offer to shake hands. However, the two-time WNBA rebounding leader looked like she shrugged off her former LSU teammate, leaving the Storm rookie disappointed.

These two have some unwanted history, and it seems to have carried over to Saturday's contest.

Reese and the Dream will have the chance to redeem themselves when they host Seattle on July 9. Meanwhile, the Storm’s next game will be on Thursday at the Mortgage Matchup Center against the Phoenix Mercury.
