Back in June, the Chicago Sky shocked their fan base by cutting former first-round pick Kysre Gondrezick. She was receiving a lot of buzz on social media prior to her release.
Gondrezick started her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever, averaging 1.9 points per game in 2021. After spending two years trying to get back into the league, she agreed to a deal with the Sky. Unfortunately for the West Virginia product, she just didn't have a huge role in Chicago. She averaged just 3.2 minutes per game, which is why the franchise felt comfortable releasing her.
A few months after being cut by the Sky, Gondrezick made public appearances at marquee events, like New York Fashion Week and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. That had many people questioning if she'll ever make a return to the WNBA.
Well, Gondrezick opened up about her basketball career in a recent interview with the New York Post.
Gondrezick revealed that she's not ready to call it quits just yet. If things work out in her favor, she'll return to the WNBA. She's also interested in the new Unrivaled League.
"I’m just excited to see the outcome of what my journey is going to be with the W, because I don’t think that I’m done anytime soon," Gondrezick said. "I don’t want to say that that was an ending. I want to say it was more so a transition."
Even though Gondrezick wants to return to the WNBA, she admit that she's open to pursuing career opportunities outside of basketball.
"I am all over the place right now," Gondrezick continued. "I’m in acting classes, acting training. I’m getting ready to shoot some film work for 2025. It’s been a heck of a year. It is funny, someone said, ‘You have trended more since you’ve been cut and since you were in the league — and you were trending so much in the league.’ I’m just living in the beauty of my purpose."
Only time will tell if Gondrezick goes back to the WNBA or ends up on the silver screen.
