FS1’s Colin Cowherd took issue with WNBA star Kelsey Plum’s dig at Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark during the All-Star game on Saturday. Plum appeared to throw Clark and her team under the bus for not wearing “Pay Us What You Owe Us” T-shirts in warm-ups.
Cowherd didn’t have a problem with Plum’s team wearing the shirts, but didn’t understand why Plum threw a dagger at the one player who is making the sport popular enough for the union to have leverage for their next collective bargaining agreement.
“So the T-shirts don’t bother me, but why do you take a shot at the golden goose, Caitlin Clark? You guys were flying before she arrived on one of those airlines that made you pay for a cup of water, one of those airlines… the planes are the color of a highlighter,” Cowherd said. “Now you’re flying private.
“Okay, if you’re in a band and you’re staying at the Motel 6, and you add a band member, and now you’re with the Ritz Carlton, keep your issues to yourself. All right, you went from Motel 6 in a sketchy part of town to the Four Seasons in the shopping district. Stop talking. I don’t mind the T-shirts. I think you have leverage.”

Cowherd thinks WNBA players are crushing opportunities to grow the sport by attacking their most popular player.
“I think you deserve more than 9% you know, but it’s just misstep after misstep,” Cowherd said. “Time to grow up, girls, like, fast, like, this is the player that got you off the airline that was bright yellow, right?”
