A year after falling to the New York Liberty in the controversial WNBA Finals, the Minnesota Lynx have been picked as favorites to win the 2025 championship by the league's general managers.
In a WNBA GMs poll run by ESPN, the Lynx earned 60% of the vote as the title favorites, with a rematch against the Liberty earning 50% of the vote as most likely finals matchup.
Minnesota takes on former Hopkins star Paige Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, on Friday as part of the league's opening night. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. in Dallas and will be televised nationally on ION.
General manager voted Bueckers most likely to be named Rookie of the Year.
Meanwhile, Lynx star Napheesa Collier was voted as the favorite to be named the league's MVP, earning 67% of the vote. Collier finished second in the 2024 MVP race to Las Vegas' A'ja Wilson.
WNBA general managers also voted the 28-year-old as the most versatile player and best overall defender, earning 42% and 33% of the votes, respectively.
Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve got 83% of the vote in the "best coach" category.
