The Las Vegas Aces came to Crypto.com Arena with vengeance in their mind. The LA team defeated them at the Michelob ULTRA Arena, ending their four-game winning run. The team came up strong with every player taking on their respective opponent on the floor, and the exciting matchup was between Cameron Brink and NaLyssa Smith.
A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum put up an offensive display in the previous game, and with Plum’s absence in the game, the Sparks needed to step up for the Aces challenge. While they were unable to get the edge, frustration started to pile up on the LA players.
On one occasion, Cameron Brink was frustrated by NaLyssa Smith’s close defending and shouted, “Get off me. Get tf off me!!!”
Incidentally, Brink shouted those words in front of the referee as she went out for an inbound off A’ja Wilson’s free throw. With less than two minutes remaining in the game, the Sparks were down by 10 points, and the former Stanford player lost control.
Officials slapped technical fouls on both players, once again showing the WNBA’s strict rules in effect right now. Both forwards are reaching their peak and have already shown some commanding performances in the league. In the game, though, they both struggled to find their offensive touch and finished with single-digit scores.
The 2024 rookie reacted to the incident in the post-game interview, showing her fierce side to the media.
The player has already shown her toughness on the court, making a strong return after a horrific ACL injury. She even had to play with a nose brace in the recent game after getting hit on the face. Ironically, that game was also against the Aces.
When reporters asked Brink about her strong stance against NaLyssa Smith, the forward said, “I mean, what do you want me to say? It’s a physical game. I’m not afraid of anybody. That’s all I’m gonna say. I’m not afraid of anybody.”
The former second overall pick is yet to have an impactful game for the team as she averages 9.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game coming off the bench for the Sparks in 2026.
