Indiana Fever Coach Has Crushing Reaction To 4th Straight Loss
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Even with rookie Caitlin Clark in the lineup, the Indiana Fever have been unable to get their first win of the new WNBA season. This prompted head coach Christie Sides to bare her thoughts out on the team’s current slump.

Last season, Indiana finished sixth in the Easter Conference with a record of 13 wins and 27 losses. Their offense was ranked sixth out of 12 teams in the WNBA while their defense was 11th. As a result of their frustrating performance, the Fever ended their season without even getting a chance to compete in the postseason.

Their poor record last year afforded Indiana with the number one pick in the most recent WNBA Draft. From there, the franchise selected Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark to anchor their team towards contention. This was an easy pick after the college standout broke Pete Maravich’s old record to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.

With the point guard coming in as the complete package for Indiana, it was easy to expect they would start the season strong. However, the last four games saw the Fever lose and they haven’t won a single contest yet for the season.

Indiana Fever Head Coach Christie Sides Reacts to Team’s Fourth Straight Loss

The Fever’s four-game losing streak has made morale low amongst Clark and the Fever. This prompted head coach Christie Sides to share her thoughts out in a post Matthew Byrne shared on X:

Christie Sides: “I’m really crushed for the players,” Byrne tweeted.

As it stands, the Fever is currently fielding an 11th place offense during the past four games while their defense is dead last in the league . As a result, they have lost twice to both the New York Liberty and Connecticut Sun.

It remains to be seen what Sides will do and how Clark is going to respond to the challenge. What’s certain is that a lot of eyes will be on Indiana to see how they’ll get themselves out of this rut.
