Indiana Fever Coach Sends Strong Angel Reese Message

The Chicago Sky made a series of franchise-altering moves last offseason when they selected forward Angel Reese and center Kamilla Cardoso in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Both players got off to excellent starts in their professional careers, as they each landed on the All-Rookie team. Reese also made the All-Star team and finished second in Rookie of the Year award voting.

Cardoso was a steady and efficient force for the Sky, scoring 9.8 points and recording 7.9 rebounds per contest while shooting 52.1% from the floor. Reese had a historic rookie campaign, contributing 13.6 points and a league-record 13.1 rebounds per contest.

The first game of their sophomore seasons will take place on May 17, as they'll travel to take on the Indiana Fever. The Fever made several big additions this offseason and will now be led by head coach Stephanie White.

Even though the Sky also made numerous upgrades to the backcourt during free agency, Coach White is still focused on the "Skyscrapers" down low. She recently spoke to the media about Reese and Cardoso before the two teams face off.

"How are we gonna keep those bigs off the boards?" asked White. "That's what's gonna be going through my mind."

The Fever did add forward DeWanna Bonner this offseason and they still have center Aliyah Boston, which makes for a very strong post duo. However, keeping Reese and Cardoso, who averaged a combined 21 rebounds per game last year, will be no easy task.

Chicago should be able to take the pressure off these players otherwise, however, as the additions of Courtney Vandersloot, Ariel Atkins and Hailey Van Lith provide multiple threats at the guard position.

All eyes will be on which superstars can perform better, as the Fever's Caitlin Clark is a game wrecker in her own right. New Chicago Sky coach Tyler Marsh will have her firmly on the radar as the team inches closer to their season opener.

However, Reese and Cardoso will need to wreak havoc on the boards if they want this game to go their way.
