Caitlin Clark will miss her 14th straight game on Friday as the Indiana Fever face the WNBA-leading Minnesota Lynx. And she’s not the only absence as the Fever are also without several other guards, including Sophie Cunningham (knee), Aari McDonald (foot), and Sydney Colson (knee), all of whom recently suffered season-ending injuries.
With injuries piling up, Indiana has been forced to make several additions throughout the 2025 WNBA season. Among them are forward Chloe Bibby and guards Odyssey Sims and Shey Peddy. Even McDonald joined as a midseason acquisition.
And just hours before Friday's game, the Fever announced that a fifth player would be out.
Shortly before the game began, the Fever revealed a fifth player on the injury report to be ruled out against Minnesota. Along with the four injured guards, Indiana will also be without Bibby, who sustained a left knee injury. This will give the Fever just nine players available to face the Lynx.
"Chloe Bibby was just ruled out for the game with a left knee injury," Indy Star's Chloe Peterson wrote on X. "Another blow for an already depleted Fever team."
Despite the recent wave of injuries, Fever general manager Ambex Cox is expected to add another wing player to the roster soon. Indiana had to wait until Cunningham missed her first game (Friday) before being eligible for a third hardship player.
"Amber Cox tells me the Fever are definitely planning to sign a wing after tonight’s game — they aren’t eligible for a third hardship until after Sophie Cunningham misses a game," Peterson added.
After spending her college career with Mississippi State and Maryland, Bibby went undrafted in 2022. She didn't see her first WNBA action until early this season, when she joined the Golden State Valkyries.
After playing in five games with the Valkyries, Bibby was waived before being picked up by Indiana on July 25 via a hardship contract. She impressed in her first two outings with the Fever, totaling 18 points and two rebounds, earning herself a rest-of-season contract.
Through her first nine games with Indiana, Bibby is averaging 3.9 points on 35.7% shooting, 1.8 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game.
