The Indiana Fever have quietly become one of the WNBA’s most resilient teams this season—even without superstar guard Caitlin Clark. Since Clark went down in mid-July with a groin injury, the Fever have reeled off five straight wins, tying their longest win streak since 2015.
Now sitting at 17‑12, Indiana is making a strong case for a postseason berth thanks to consistent contributions from Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and veteran Natasha Howard. With or without Clark on the floor, the Fever are proving they can compete—and win—against top-tier opponents, and the latest ESPN rankings is proof that they are a force to reckon with.
Indiana’s 5–0 record without Clark has helped them jump to No. 4 in ESPN’s latest WNBA power rankings, behind the New York Liberty (3), Atlanta Dream (2), and Minnesota Lynx (1), and up from No. 5 a week ago. This marks their highest ranking of the 2025 season, highlighting how effectively the team has adapted in Clark’s absence.
The winning streak has come at a critical time, with the Fever battling for playoff positioning in a tight Eastern Conference. As it stands, Indiana sits third in the Eastern Conference and has the fifth best record in the WNBA this season.

While the Fever continue to make a case for themselves as one of the league’s best teams this year, there is still no defined timetable for Clark’s return to action. On Monday, head coach Stephanie White provided an update on Clark’s injury during an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Today.
“We’re really just putting no timetable on it,” White said. “Going through the rehab process, and then we want to reintegrate her from a strength and conditioning standpoint, and then get her back to basketball activities... We’re really slow-rolling it, slow-playing it this time.”

It appears that the Fever continue to prioritize Clark’s long-term health over any immediate return. With the team riding high without the 2024 Rookie of the Year, there will be no rush to see her back in action.
So far this season, Clark has averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 13 games, with the Fever winning eight of those games.
Indiana’s next three games present both a challenge and opportunity. They’ll face the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday, host the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday, and then travel to meet the Chicago Sky on Saturday.
With lots of momentum on their side, the Fever will look to continue climbing the standings while staying patient with Clark’s recovery timeline.
