Indiana Fever Guard Speaks Out After Replacing Caitlin Clark

The Indiana Fever beat the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday even without Caitlin Clark, who was ruled out due to the back injury she sustained during their previous game against the Phoenix Mercury.

Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston led the way in the Fever's 111-87 win. Mitchell exploded for 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while Boston added 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks.

One of the players who stepped up the most, however, was Ty Harris. Head coach Stephanie White chose the veteran guard to start at point guard in place of Clark, and she delivered with a remarkable performance.

Harris played 30 minutes, her most in a game this season, and recorded 16 points, five rebounds and three assists. She took care of the ball really well, committing just two turnovers.

After the win, Harris was naturally appreciative of the opportunity she got. The 28-year-old guard was limited to just five games last season with the Dallas Wings due to a knee injury, so finding her groove and being able to recapture her old form with the Fever was certainly huge for her.

"It meant everything to me," Harris said, per the Fever website. "I'm coming off an injury from last year, I wanted to be on the floor and contribute to the team in any way that I can. My number was called today, and it went well for me, so it meant everything."

It's still unknown if Clark will be able to return to action when the Fever play the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. She missed the team's practice on Tuesday as she continues her recovery.

Whatever happens, though, the Fever can find solace in the fact that they have a player in Harris who can start at point guard or provide valuable contributions as a backup to Clark.
