Indiana Fever Lose Two Veterans To Season-Ending Injuries

Injuries just keep on piling up for the Indiana Fever this season.

The Fever have been competing without Caitlin Clark for the past three weeks due to a groin injury. The All-Star guard missed a few games earlier this season with a quad strain. During an appearance on WNBA legend Sue Bird's podcast, she opened up about her injury-plagued season.

"It’s just been so challenging being active and then playing four games, and then not — and then not feeling the best and then I’m frustrated about how hard I’ve worked in the offseason, and then all I do is rehab and continue through this process, and just trying to trust that the best I can," Clark said. "Obviously, there are really frustrating days and there are days where it’s a little bit easier and you’re very motivated and you’re close to the finish line of getting back and being back. It’s not like I have a training camp to build up to play in my first game again. It’s like no, you’re tossed into game 30 — like, 'Go try to play well.' It’s hard, it really is."

The Fever have relied on Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald during Clark's absence. That won't be the case any longer.

On Friday, the Fever announced that Colson and McDonald will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

Colson left Thursday's game against the Phoenix Mercury due to a non-contact injury. Unfortunately, her medical results confirmed that she has a torn ACL.

McDonald, on the other hand, suffered a broke a bone in her foot during the fourth quarter of the Fever-Mercury game. She was averaging 9.8 points and 4.7 assists per game this season.

The Fever won't be able to sign a hardship player until after Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky. That means they'll only have nine available players for that showdown.
