It was Caitlin Clark who once again led the Indiana Fever to victory on Saturday against the Connecticut Sun. However, there’s no denying that the Fever would not have come out on top had it not been for Sophie Cunningham.
Clark dropped a game-high 25 points with five assists and five three-pointers, leading Indiana to an 85-75 road win over the Sun. This was the Fever’s third consecutive victory, improving to 8-5 on the season.
Cunningham came off the bench again in this one. She was scoreless until a late fourth-quarter barrage, during which she exploded for 11 points in the final two minutes of the game.
Cunningham is not exactly the most prolific scorer in the WNBA. In fact, she’s averaging a modest 8.9 points this season on 47.9% shooting.
The 6-foot-1 guard flipped the script on Saturday, though. She scored 11 points to close out the game and seal the win for Indiana. The team highlighted Cunningham’s heroics on social media.
“Sophie Cunningham’s insane 11-point run in the final 2 minutes secured our Commissioner’s Cup win against Connecticut ” the Fever posted on X.

Cunningham showcased her clutch gene on Saturday, and it proved pivotal in the Fever’s latest win. She will be looking to keep her foot on the gas in Indiana’s next game.
The Fever get two days off before their next game. They return home to face the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday as they look to keep their winning streak alive. Tipoff from Gainbridge Fieldhouse will be at 7:00 p.m. ET.
