The Indiana Fever have returned home after a three-game road trip to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night. But they will be shorthanded.
Late in Tuesday night's win, All-WNBA point guard Caitlin Clark suffered a groin injury, which will sideline her against the Sparks. This news came just a day after Indiana released DeWanna Bonner.
This is not the first time Clark has dealt with injury issues this year. On May 24, she suffered a quad injury against the New York Liberty that kept her out for the next five games. The Fever went 2-3 without Clark.
With Clark out, the Fever have elected to replace her with Sydney Colson in the starting lineup. She will be joined by the other regular starters, including Kelsey Mitchell, Lexie Hull, Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard.

Colson was Clark's replacement in the five games she missed earlier this season. In those games, she averaged 4.0 points on 32.1% shooting, 2.4 assists and 1.4 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per game.
Coach Stephanie White had a second option to replace Clark in the starting lineup. Amid Bonner's departure and Damiris Dantas' absence for national team obligations, the Fever brought back guard Aari McDonald.
McDonald was arguably better than Colson in the three games she played with Indiana—all without Clark—earlier this season. In those games, she averaged 11.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists, putting in the work on defense as well.
Following the game against Los Angeles, the Fever will face Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET in the second of their back-to-back. At the time of this article, it is unclear if Clark will be available for that game.
