Indiana Fever Make Roster Decision Amid Caitlin Clark Injury

The Indiana Fever enter Friday night’s matchup on the road against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings riding a three-game win streak.

As they look to keep the momentum going, they'll once again be without star point guard Caitlin Clark, who has already missed 14 of the Fever’s 27 games this season. Clark has been sidelined since July 15 with a groin injury, and there remains no timetable for her return.

In response, the Fever signed Australian forward Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract on July 25. After averaging 9.0 points over her first two games, the team announced Friday that Bibby has been signed for the remainder of the season.

Fans reacted to the Fever's roster decision:

"Hopefully this isn’t an insurance policy because CC might have to hang it up for the duration of the season… I hope not," a fan said.

Someone else added, "Good Job guys. No need to play with another 7 day contract. We love Chloe over here."

Another person wrote, "Good pick up. She’s been playing great and will excel even more once CC is back on the court."

"Great addition! The spark off the bench has been real," one more fan commented.

Bibby has made an immediate impact for an Indiana team that’s continued to play solid basketball even in Caitlin Clark’s absence. Through her first two games, she’s shooting 44.4% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc.

In Wednesday’s thrilling win over the Phoenix Mercury, Bibby logged 13 minutes and scored 10 points. She chipped in eight points in 11 minutes during her debut.

Now sitting at 15–12, the Fever have a chance to extend their winning streak against an 8–20 Wings team that’s recently shown signs of life. Dallas is coming off a 92–82 upset win over the New York Liberty on Monday and a narrow 88–85 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday—proving they can compete with some of the league’s top teams.
