The Indiana Fever saw their five-game winning streak come to a bitter end on Tuesday at the hands of the Los Angeles Sparks. The Fever, who were still without Caitlin Clark due to a re-aggravated groin injury, battled hard, but they ultimately lost out to L.A., 100-91.

Kelsey Mitchell Goes Off Against Sparks

Kelsey Mitchell did all she could for the Fever in this one. The three-time All-Star had one of her best games of the season, dropping 34 points on 11-of-19 shooting, to go along with two rebounds, six assists and a steal in 31 minutes of action. Mitchell also knocked down seven triples on the evening, but in the end, her effort was not enough to carry Indiana to victory.

The 29-year-old’s performance, however, did not go unnoticed. The Fever took to social media shortly after the final buzzer to name Mitchell as the Stat Leader of the Game for her incredible outing against the Sparks.

“a 34-point performance for Kelsey Mitchell in LA,” the Fever posted on Instagram.

Mitchell Earns Praise From Fever Fans

The Indiana faithful showed their support to Mitchell, who left it all on the court in the loss. Supporters expressed their admiration for the Fever star through the comments section of the team’s post.

“The Fever's leader, Kelsey, played her heart out. ,” a reaction on Instagram read.

“legendary af! we gotta make a statue n her honor someday,” declared a fan.

“Kelseyyy always slays,” said another.

“Good job Kelsey!!!! You played a great game! ,” a user wrote.

“Kelsey balled out again!!” agreed another.

“Although the team lost the game, in the last quarter, KM saved the face of the Fever !” a supporter claimed.

Mitchell has been on a tear of late. She’s stepped up to the plate amid Clark’s extended absence with averages of 21.9 points on 44.6% shooting, 2.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.0 minutes. Over the last eight games, the 5-foot-8 guard has also knocked down 3.3 triples per contest on a highly efficient 40.6% clip.

More of the same will be expected from Mitchell as Clark continues to sit out. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year has no timetable for her return from injury, which only means that the Fever will need Mitchell to keep her foot on the gas in their coming games.

It’s the Phoenix Mercury that’s up next for the Fever as they close out their four-game road trip on Thursday night.
