Sophie Cunningham had a memorable season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. She established herself not only as a key contributor for the franchise but also as an enforcer, bringing energy and consistently standing up for her teammates.
Cunningham averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game, all while shooting 46.9% from the field and 43.2% from deep. Unfortunately, she played just 30 games after her season ended prematurely due to a knee injury.
The 29-year-old guard also became a fan favorite in Indiana, not just because of her performance on the court, but also with her vocal attitude. Cunningham is never afraid to speak out on issues she relates to, from WNBA officiating to personal matters. That's why she was fined multiple times by the league last campaign.

That vocal nature of hers was on full display once again amid the offseason. This time, though, she talked about a topic that many might be able to relate to.
On her Instagram Stories on Monday, Cunningham talked about her love for animals. However, she admitted that there's one particular dog breed that she doesn't really like: the Chihuahua.
"I am a dog lover — animal lover through and through, like love animals more than I love people," Cunningham stated. "But I think chihuahuas are, maybe, the worst creation that God ever invented. They're rats, and they're annoying."

It's unknown why Cunningham doesn't like Chihuahuas, but it's safe to say fans won't see her petting one any time soon.
As for her WNBA career, Cunningham is currently away from Indiana as she continues her rehab. She recently went to New York for an appearance on "Good Morning America," and she's expected to travel between Phoenix, her home state Missouri, Florida — where she's buying a home — and Indiana as she navigates her free agency.
