Saturday brought a statement win to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

After the Indiana Pacers dropped Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night, the Fever bounced back with a big Saturday performance, beating the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty, 102-88.

This wasn’t just any win. It was Clark’s return after missing five games due to a quad injury, and she came back in top form. The second-year guard scored a team-high 32 points, handed out nine assists and pulled down eight rebounds in the victory.

On Sunday, Clark responded to a post from the team’s social media account, showing her enthusiasm for the performance and the win.

At halftime, the game was close with the Fever holding a 53-50 edge. But Indiana pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Liberty 49-38. Clark knocked down seven 3-pointers, while the team made 17 total from deep.

Through five games this season, Clark is averaging 21.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game. She’s shooting 36.7% from three and 43.9% from the field.

Five players scored in double figures for Indiana. Along with Clark’s 32, Kelsey Mitchell added 22, Lexie Hull scored 14, and Sydney Colson and Aliyah Boston chipped in with 10 each.

The Liberty got strong showings from their stars as well. Sabrina Ionescu scored 34 points on 11-of-20 shooting, and Breanna Stewart added 24 in the loss.

The Fever’s win moved them to 5-5 on the season. New York suffered its first defeat after starting the year 9-0. Up next, Indiana hosts the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, while New York looks to bounce back at home against the Atlanta Dream.
