There was never much doubt but now it’s official.
On Thursday the Indiana Fever confirmed what many expected — Caitlin Clark has made the team’s opening day roster for the 2025 WNBA season.
After a historic rookie campaign in 2024, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star continues to build her legacy at the next level.
Clark finished her debut season averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game, while breaking the WNBA’s single-season assist record with 337 dimes.
She also led Indiana to its first playoff appearance since 2016, finishing 20-20 before falling in the opening round to the Connecticut Sun.
In year two, expectations are even higher — and back in Iowa City, pride is at an all-time high.
The official Iowa women’s basketball account celebrated Clark’s spot on the roster with a simple but fitting message on social media.

Being the No. 1 overall pick in 2024 and the face of the Fever franchise, Clark was essentially guaranteed a spot.
The WNBA is known for its tough roster decisions, and even top picks can find themselves waived. But with Clark, there was never any serious question.
She’ll be back in action Saturday, when the Fever open the season in a marquee showdown against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
It’s one of the league’s most anticipated matchups of the year — a renewal of one of women’s basketball’s most compelling new rivalries.
With her place locked in and the spotlight growing even brighter, Clark’s story continues — and her home state is watching every step of the way.
