Despite being one of the younger faces in camp, Reese is winning hearts with her nature. The rookie’s naturally vocal leadership style has clearly followed her from the WNBA to the international stage.
While the social media clips are all about the jokes, Copper’s presence in Miami is crucial for a squad that has a mix of veteran gold medalists with emerging icons like Reese and Caitlin Clark.
The chemistry Copper is documenting will be put to the test almost immediately. With the WNBA stars, including Paige Beuckers, playing a crucial role, Team USA is preparing for the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament, which tips off tomorrow, March 11, in Puerto Rico.
Angel Reese took center stage during USA Basketball’s first practice session in San Juan on Monday as they gear up for the upcoming FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament. Team USA shared clips from the opening run, which featured several of the nation’s brightest young stars, including Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark.
Reese, currently starring for the Chicago Sky, was active throughout the workout, flaunting the relentless energy and rebounding instincts that have made her one of the league’s most productive forwards. The former LSU standout has built a reputation as a double-double machine, averaging 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds in her pro career so far.
Clark and Reese will share the floor as teammates after last linking up during the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game. With a talented roster that also includes Bueckers, Team USA will aim to dominate the qualifiers, which begin Wednesday and run through March 17.
