The Chicago Sky lost to the New York Liberty on Tuesday by a final score of 85-66.
The Sky are now 2-6 on the season.
Chicago All-Star Angel Reese has gotten off to a rough start this season. While the lefty is averaging 10.1 points and 12.1 rebounds, she's shooting only 35.8% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 67.7% from the free-throw line.
Reese has been getting bashed for her poor shooting splits this season, but the LSU star is staying strong in the heat of adversity.
On Wednesday, Reese posted the following caption on Instagram along with 14 pictures:
"Every successful person you admire survived a season you didn’t see. Idols turn into rivals. Everything becomes about survival."
Several people commented on Reese's post, including her teammate, Sky center Kamilla Cardoso.
"Keep going 5!" Cardoso wrote, followed by the heart emoji.
Reese and Cardoso were drafted by the Sky in the first round of last year's draft. They are being tasked with turning the Chicago franchise around.
Cardoso is averaging 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds this season while shooting 50.7% from the floor and 75.0% from the foul line. She's having much more success shooting from the field than Reese.
However, Reese shot the ball well against New York on Tuesday. She finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds in 31 minutes while shooting 8-of-13 overall.
The Sky are back in action on Friday when they take on the Atlanta Dream for another Commissioner's Cup Game. It will be fascinating to see if Reese can have another good shooting game.
