Golden State Valkyries guard Kate Martin recently gave fans an amusing behind-the-scenes look at her experience with Unrivaled.
In an interview, Martin shared a surprising detail about what happens off the court—especially in the weight room.
Bleacher Report asked about what it’s like sharing facilities with Unrivaled teams and Martin didn’t hold back.
“Yeah, I will definitely say, there’s a lot of collaboration on TikTok dances in the weight room and things like that,” she said.
“But more than anything, it’s just cool to get to know the other players off the court.”
Martin’s statement also touched on the unique camaraderie among players in Unrivaled.
“You know, you see them as competitors, but you can’t really judge everybody just by their competitive spirit,” she added.
“So being able to get to know people that might not be teammates, but you’ve seen around the league and looked up to for a really long time, that’s been one of the coolest things.”
While Martin has been enjoying the off-court moments, she unfortunately won’t be taking part in Unrivaled’s playoffs. The Laces BC guard has been sidelined due to a lingering left leg injury that has kept her out for over 40 days.
Despite hopes that she might return for the postseason, it has been confirmed that she will not play in the upcoming semifinal matchup against Rose BC, per USA Today’s Meghan L. Hall via X.
Martin played a crucial role for Laces BC before her injury, averaging 8.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in just six games. Her absence is a blow to her team as they prepare to face Rose BC, who will also miss key players Angel Reese and Kahleah Copper due to injuries.
While Martin’s return to Unrivaled won’t happen this season, she is expected to make her comeback with the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA.
Until then, fans can enjoy her lighthearted moments off the court—and maybe even keep an eye out for more TikTok collaborations from the Unrivaled weight room.
