There were plenty of eyes on Kate Martin entering Thursday's game against the Indiana Fever, thanks in large part to her connection with Caitlin Clark. Fortunately, the Golden State Valkyries guard didn't disappoint on the court.
While her reunion with Clark was a major talking point — especially since it was the first time the former Iowa Hawkeyes teammates were playing each other this season — Martin came to play and showed that early in their battle.
Midway through the second quarter, Martin pulled off a turnaround jump shot that even had the WNBA impressed.
While being guarded by the Fever's Sophie Cunningham, the Valkyries guard created separation by executing a spin move. She proceeded to launch a jumper with the space she created for herself, eventually draining the basket.
"Kate Martin turnaround ONE-LEG fadeaway," the WNBA wrote in the caption while sharing a video of the play. The social media account also included a mind-blown emoji, highlighting how impressed they were over the play.
Several fans also commented on the video and heaped praise on the tough move that Kate Martin just pulled off against Sophie Cunningham.
"Yeah, that was nice," a fan wrote. Another one shared, "Sheesh my girl giving the fever heat!"
"Kate looking like Dirk," a supporter added.
"k money," a commenter gushed, adding a fire emoji.
A fifth poster remarked, "Different."
"WNBA: Martin goes to work. Check out how Kate Martin connects at the rim off one leg vs Fever," a fan shared.
"KATE SPECIAL," an X user further stated.
