Kelsey Mitchell news emerges amid Fever’s WNBA season

Kelsey Mitchell may have lost on Sunday to the Washington Mystics, but she enjoyed another strong performance. The four-time All-Star once again made WNBA history, and the Indiana Fever posted the news on social media.

Mitchell recorded 22 points, two assists and three-pointers. She extended her 20-plus point regular-season scoring streak to 26 games and was on of three Indiana players to score in double digits. Caitlin Clark led the way with game-high 25 points, two rebounds and five assists. However, she struggled with her shot, converting just 6-of-20 attempts, but made up for it by going 10-of-10 from the free-throw line. Makayla Timpson added 13 points and seven rebounds.

The 93-77 defeat is only the Fever’s third in their last 11 outings. The bad news is they lost step with the Atlanta Dream and Las Vegas Aces in the race for a top-three playoff seed.

Mitchell’s three triples on Sunday pushed her total to 800 for her career. She is now one of just six players in league history to achieve the feat.

The 30-year-old joins Diana Taurasi (1,447), Sue Bird (1,001), Katie Smith (906), Kayla McBride (840) and Becky Hammon (829). Mitchell still has a long way to go before hanging her sneakers up for good, giving her a strong chance to reach 1,000.

Meanwhile, Indiana has two games left on its regular-season schedule. Both matchups are against the league-leading Minnesota Lynx in a home-and-away set on Tuesday and Thursday. Mitchell and Co. are fifth in the standings with a 27-15 record, trailing the Atlanta Dream by one game. The Las Vegas Aces are sitting in third place with three games left.
