Kelsey Mitchell reveals Fever dilemma after personal decision

Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell discussed how she juggles her pro basketball career and PhD studies.

Last month, Mitchell signed a multi-year deal with sports brand PUMA to become one of its brand ambassadors and an athlete who will rock the Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton’s “Hali” line.

In one of her recent interviews with the brand, Mitchell shared how she’s balancing her life as a pro hooper and a PhD student, specifically by meeting school deadlines for her papers.

“It was like two papers due at one time, and we had to play Vegas, and if y’all know, like Vegas, the time difference is different,” Mitchell said. “Man, I had to hit the professor. I was like, I had to show a picture of who I am and everything. I’m like, “I’m a basketball player, please let me turn this in late.”

The four-time WNBA All-Star also recounted how she haggled with her professor to be considerate about deadlines and the moment he realized she was a WNBA player.

“I was like, you have to let me turn this in a little late, you know, because I was trying to be, and he was so cool,” she continud. “And then he put two and two together. He was like, ‘Oh, you play in the WNBA.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’”
