Kelsey Plum, who is currently playing in her first season with the Los Angeles Sparks, has been in the league since 2017. She’s been through quite a lot in her career, which includes no less than two WNBA championships with the Las Vegas Aces.
This only means that Plum has had the opportunity to battle some of the top players in the league through the years. In a recent interview, the four-time All-Star was asked about the hardest player she’s had to guard. Plum did not hold back in sharing her honest opinion on Indiana Fever star Kelsey Mitchell.
"You know who's really hard to guard that doesn't get enough flowers is Kelsey Mitchell," Plum declared. "She's so fast. She can stop on a dime.
"A lot of guards I feel like, are either one or the other. Like, they significantly prefer either to pull up outside or go to the rim. But she, I swear, it's 50/50. You don't know which way she's going.
“And she's fast as hell. I be stretching out way before the game."

Plum is a very dangerous threat on the offensive end as well, leading the Sparks in scoring this season with 20.1 points per game. For her to have such high praise for an opposing player speaks volumes about how much respect Mitchell has commanded from her peers.
The Sparks get to host the Fever at Crypto.com Arena on August 5, which will give Plum the opportunity to battle Mitchell on the court.
Based on her comments here, it is clear that Plum does not take this matchup lightly. Mitchell has been on a tear for the Fever as well, putting up 20.2 points per game this season. The individual battle between two of the top guards in the WNBA today should be a real treat for the fans.
