Kelsey Plum stars again in Sparks win over Fever

The Los Angeles Sparks had a lot of things going for them on Tuesday night against the Indiana Fever.

Rickea Jackson, the No. 4 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, continued her sophomore surge with a 25-point effort.

Cameron Brink, who returned recently from the season-ending injury she suffered as a rookie, also made her presence felt with five blocks, including a two-handed stuff you have to see to believe.

The refs actually called it a foul, before a lengthy review rightfully overturned the elite defensive play. Brink delivered those all night, part of the reason why the Sparks were able to maintain their lead, despite a strong second-half push from the Fever, minus Caitlin Clark, who missed her eighth straight game.

Even without Clark, Indiana had been on fire, winning five in a row, at least until its 100-91 defeat in Los Angeles.

Jackson, who came up just shy of the 30 points she scored last month against Las Vegas in a career-high, connected three times from beyond the arc. She made 10-of-18 shots total.

As good as Jackson was, and as electric as Brink was off the bench, the straw that stirred the drink was Kelsey Plum, which shouldn't surprise anyone.

For one, Plum has been on fire lately. She's averaged 21 points per game in her last five games, with an average of 7.2 assists per game.

It also seems that the long-time WNBA star saves her best for Caitlin Clark's squad, even if she isn't on the court.

This season, once with Clark on the court, and twice with her off it, Plum has averaged 22 points per game with 10 three-pointers and an average of 6.7 assists. On Tuesday, she notched her second double-double of the season with 25 points (7-of-11 shooting) and 11 assists.

The Fever made a run late, thanks to 34 points from Kelsey Mitchell; however, Plum and the Sparks got the last laugh, improving to 3-0 over Indiana this season.

Los Angeles is now 13-15 on the season, one game behind the Golden State Valkries for the final  playoff spot. The Sparks have won seven out of their last eight, scoring more than 100 in four of their last five.

This feels like a playoff team and Plum is a huge reason why.
