Host Michelle Beadle asked Gray about the issues that the league and the union are “far apart on”. Gray brought up the matter of compensation.
Gray said, “We’re not asking to be paid the same. What we’re asking for is the revenue share, The world is ready for women’s sports to explode. How do you not have the best league in the world out there and playing?”
Chelsea Gray then brought up the idea of extending assistance to retired WNBA players beyond the 401(K) plan.
Gray also mentioned the nanny support that was provided to mothers during the Unrivaled league’s season. The conversation shifted to the added amenities that the Unrivaled league offered that the players are asking the WNBA to provide.
Gray did not mince words. “It’s gonna be a fight,” she admitted. “I’m ready for it, and everybody’s taking precautions if there is a lockout.”
