The Indiana Fever have won three of their last four games and are rolling, despite being without star guard Caitlin Clark in three of them. The reigning Rookie of the Year missed her third straight game with a groin injury Tuesday night against the Minnesota Lynx — but that didn’t reflect on the scoreline.
Her teammates rose to the occasion in the Commissioner’s Cup championship and defeated the Lynx 74-59.
Four of the five Fever starters scored in double figures, and the one who didn’t, Lexie Hull, still provided 15 quality minutes on the floor, knocking down two threes.
Hull took to social media late Wednesday night to share some photos from Indiana’s postgame celebrations. The champagne and goggles were out, and the team even posed for photos with the trophy.
In the caption, Hull admitted, it was "not a bad Tuesday night at the office."
Meanwhile, Clark, like many others, came across the post and left a comment. However, in hers, she gave Hull a new nickname: "Alexis."
"Yeah Alexis," Clark said. "Love you."
While many people bearing the name Alexis go by Lexie as a nickname, Hull’s actual name is Lexie. Clark is known for her playful and funny personality, and that comment just put it on full display.
Hull and the rest of the Fever will look to pick up another win Thursday night without Clark as they host the Las Vegas Aces at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Clark got in some solo work after practice on Wednesday, and based on how she looked, she seems close to returning after Thursday. Tip-off between the Fever and Aces is set for 7 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
