Lexie Hull’s Honest Response to Caitlin Clark’s Behavior Amid Injury

The Indiana Fever have been thrown a curveball when it comes to their championship hopes in the form of the quad injury that is expected to sideline Caitlin Clark for roughly two weeks.

On Wednesday, they lost their first game without her to the Washington Mystics, 83-77. They shot just 39.7% from the field and 23.8% from 3-point range, and they had more turnovers (17) than assists (15).

Teammate Lexie Hull says that Clark has still been showing leadership even though she hasn't been able to play, and that it is a sign that she's growing and developing.

"I mean you saw her out there yesterday she’s on the court still talking to the refs so she’s ready to be back…I’m seeing her grow in ways I didn’t expect…she’s learning a lot and she’s been very vocal in the locker room," Hull said.

In four games this season, Clark is averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 40.3% from the field and 31.4% from 3-point range. Her best game so far came in a one-point loss to Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream when she had 27 points on 9-of-20 overall shooting and 5-of-11 from downtown and 11 assists.

In her last game, she shot just 6-of-18 and committed 10 turnovers versus the New York Liberty, and after Indiana blew a sizable lead, she had the ball knocked away from her to prevent her from nailing a potential game-winning 3-pointer.

Indiana will face the Liberty again on June 14, and things won't be easy for it without Clark. The team has a 2-3 record right now, but it does have some added firepower this year in the form of forward Natasha Howard and wing DeWanna Bonner.
