The New York Liberty not only blew out the Chicago Sky during their Thursday showdown, but they also made history in the process.

New York secured its second win of the season, thanks to a balanced scoring effort led by Natasha Cloud (18 points), Kennedy Burke (17 points) and Sabrina Ionescu (16 points). Chicago only led in the opening quarter after scoring first, but it was all Liberty after that.

Ionescu and company led by as many as 31 points before settling for a 99-74 victory.

What really doomed the Sky, however, was the Liberty's 3-point shooting. The New York franchise made 19 of its 34 attempts from deep, which also set a new WNBA record.

According to the WNBA, the 19 makes from deep are the most by any team in a single game in league history.

Natasha Cloud and Kennedy Burke had four 3-pointers each to lead the team, while Jonquel Jones had three. Sabrina Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and Marine Johannes chipped in two triples each.

The Sky, in comparison, had no answer for the Liberty's hot scoring. They made 11 of their 27 attempts from deep, but they were just 25-of-69 from the field overall. Angel Reese even failed to score in the game, going 0-of-8.

Rachel Banham top-scored for Chicago with 15 points, while Courtney Vandersloot added 14. Rebecca Allen was the only other Sky player to score in double digits with 11.

It remains to be seen if the Liberty can maintain their hot form, but it will definitely be interesting to see how they play against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Saturday.
