While New York Liberty fans were hoping to see Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark take the court at Barclays Center on Tuesday night, that looks like it's not going to happen. Clark, who has been dealing with a groin injury, probably will not play.
Fever coach Cheryl White spoke about Clark's current injury situation on Saturday, when the WNBA All-Star Game was played. Clark was supposed to be in the game, but her injury kept her sidelined. She did appear at the game, though, in support of her Team Clark players.

“She’s going to see some doctors and get more tests early in the week,” White said, according to The Associated Press. “I don’t expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we’re just going to take it one day at a time and let her get evaluations early this week and then, once we’ve done that, hopefully we’ll have more of a clear vision of what it looks like.”
The Liberty enter the second half of the season with a 15-6 record, 3.5 games behind the WNBA-leading Minnesota Lynx. New York will look to Sabrina Ionescu, who won the 3-Point Contest during WNBA All-Star Weekend, to pace its offense.
Clark, a two-time WNBA All-Star herself, is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and five rebounds this season. Indiana was supposed to be in contention for the WNBA crown, but that's not happened so far. The Fever are 12-11 overall, showing signs of a squad missing its star player.
“These soft tissue injuries, sometimes nag until you can actually have time to really allow to heal in the offseason,” White said on Saturday at the WNBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis.
WNBA fans in New York wanted to see Clark go up against the Liberty's best players. For Tuesday night's game, though, they will have to make do with watching Ionescu and her teammates face Lexie Hull and other Fever standouts.
