Ionescu's effort represented just the 11th all-time triple-double in WNBA history. Her first career triple-double came last season on May 18, 2021 in a victory over the Minnesota Lynx when she went for 26 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
The 2020 first overall draft pick, Ionescu entered Sunday averaging 16.8 points and 5.1 assists, as well as career-highs in rebounds (5.7), steals (1.0) and minutes per game (31.6). Ionescu has shot a career-high 46.1% from the field and 36.7% from 3-point range through 13 contests.
"I don't care about the triple-double; we didn't win," Ionescu said, per ESPN.com's Mechelle Voepel. "I'm just trying to do my part, continuing to get better every single day, continuing to learn from my teammates, from this coaching staff."
The 24-year-old former University of Oregon star has helped New York win four of their last six games after starting the season 1-7.
