Nothing seems to be going right for the New York Liberty recently. New York is on a three-game losing streak and has dealt with multiple injuries to star players throughout the season. The latest calamity surrounding the Liberty has caused the WNBA to reschedule their next game.
The WNBA announced that Thursday’s game between the Liberty and Wings has been postponed due to travel delays. New York’s charter flight to Dallas has been delayed due to mechanical issues.
That matchup was supposed to tip off at 9PM ET, but has since been rescheduled to July 20th at 8PM ET.
This postponement creates plenty of uncertainty about how New York will approach their next few games. The Liberty planned to be without Satou Sabally and Leonie Fiebich against the Wings. If the game took place on July 16th, Sabally and Fiebich were not expected to travel with the team.
The good news is that both Sabally and Fiebich can get some more rest before New York plays again. But the postponement does not guarantee that they’ll be able to play in a few days.
Sabally has missed the past seven games since suffering a concussion against the Aces on June 23rd. Fiebich has soreness in her left foot.
Either way, New York will look to get back on track in their next matchup. But the Liberty do not get to simply rest and prepare before their game against the Wings.
Next up for New York is a road game against Indiana. That matchup tips off at 8PM ET on July 18th from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
After that, the Liberty will finally take on the Wings.
