The Phoenix Mercury suffered their 11th straight loss in back-to-back games against the No. 1 ranked Las Vegas Aces. On Sunday afternoon, the Valley team wrapped up their season with the most losses in a single season in franchise history, finishing 9-31.
Their previous worst-performing season was in 2012 when the team ended with a 7-27 record – also, the last time the Mercury failed to make a playoff appearance. This marks the end to their record-breaking streak of ten consecutive postseason appearances, the most in WNBA history.
The team has a lot of good pieces that they need to find a way to put together in the offseason. In the meantime, let’s put this season behind us and reminisce about the memorable moments the Mercury have had this season since the All-Star Game.
A dunk, in-game slushy, and mic’d up gold.
